Fall Season is Here - Let's Get it going!

Advertisers, studio executives, and television fans wait with bated breath as the Fall season line-up arrives with promise and hope. What will this season bring? And, can the returning staples keep their fan base? While it's all still very much anyone's game, there's still the looming fear of the first show to be cancelled after just one episode. Then there's also that show that keeps going, no matter how absurd you think the storylines have become.
What am I looking forward to the most?
Frank Darabont's The Walking Dead and Terence Winter's Boardwalk Empire. The Walking Dead chronicles the lives of survivors after the dead have taken over. Society has collapsed and surviving is all that’s left. It’s about what happens next, and is a look at the human condition when faced with extremes every minute of every day.
Going from surviving zombies to the prohibition era of the 1920's in Atlantic City, Boardwalk Empire follows Nucky Thompson as he navigates through his own criminal trappings and fights to retain his hold over the trafficking and creation of alcohol. The creator's use of irony and juxtaposition has already been noted as pure genius. Boardwalk Empire, still very much a Freshman show, has already won two Golden Globes, and both shows have garnered Emmy nominations. It's the first time, and I say this as a die-hard fan of many, many CW shows, that my innate tastes have lined up with the Academy. Go figure!
If you have yet to give these two shows a try, I say it's worth your time. Furthermore, second seasons are typically amazing. The set-up is complete, the characters are just where you want them, and now the show can breathe and have a little fun. The second season also brings the development of "background" characters, characters you loved during season 1, but now you really get to know them and understand their place in the story. So yes, I too am waiting with bated breath. Let's get it going!
