The mouse, the box, the guild and the work continues...

As we continue to pursue and execute our career goals, it seems work never stops, and on a vacation, merely slows down to take a breath, gather ones senses and rally once more. Renewed and ready for what is to come there are a number of different opportunities out there, in our sites and in our pursuit.

Most recently, I threw my Director's hat in the ring for two amazing opportunities offered through the Directors Guild Of America. In collaboration with HBO and ABC/Disney, two fellowships have been in practice for a number of years, granting a select, hard working, visionary few, the opportunity to direct for television series through ABC and HBO, respectively.

This year I have chosen to be a part of these applicants. My hopes are high and the work Natasha M. Hall and I have produced through 2009 on our own as well as the many collaborations we've engaged in fill me with a strong feeling of preparedness for what lies ahead in the next few months to come.

Though, I await news to whether ABC or HBO deems if I have what it takes to work with them as a potential fellow, again, work doesn't stop for us. Natasha continues @ VFS come this Tuesday and I complete the edit for the All Gifted: The Meet and Greet short film.

After that, rewrites for the All Gifted feature continues, with a reading in May. In the midst of that, I will also be editing a webisode directed by Pete Chatmon of Double 7 Film, Director Of Photography Leyla T. Rosario. I can't wait to see the footage!

In the meantime, the work continues! Check out the Indie Film Bootcamp website. It will be a series of seminars meant to educate the novice, the amateur, the rising professional and just those who have questions on how to avoid some of the more embarassing and costly pitfalls of production and enhancing your career in this business. It will inform you to what "nobody ever told you" in film school, onset or at other seminars, but be warned, you will gain so much from this workshop- you can never say again, "nobody ever told you". Well worth it!!

All Gifted "The Meet and Greet" 02.14.10

On Valentine's Day, a concept based on the feature All Gifted was reborn. Based on the greek myth of Pandora's Box, All Gifted features a story about an undying soul who passes from woman to woman, whose lives have ended senselessly and abruptly. With new lives and new consequences, Pandora in the bodies of these formerly deceased women, must avenge the slain women's end while continuing her crusade to capture and reclaim all the evils she was compelled to release upon her creation. These evils who have manifested themselves in the forms of unwilling living human hosts or deceased bodies have a crusade of their own, to end Pandora once and for all, so that they, may walk on this earth unhindered by anyone.

The shoot for "All Gifted" The Meet and Greet was not without its challenges. Between the bitter cold outdoors, to the hot lights, some of which didn't really work well, it was a massive team effort by the cast and crew to really deliver the best product possible.

Shot on the Canon EOS 7D, the images created via their HD Video setting shooting at 1080p 24fps and & 720 60ffps are really stunning. I will be keeping you up to date on the progress of the edit as it comes along. As an entry to the Canon Can-Do contest, it would be an enormous honor to win, but ultmately, the honor comes with having been able to work with an amazing team of actors and crew.

This shoot was really the shoot that Canon made. From the Canon 7D, to the Canon Vixia HV30, to Canon Cybershot still cameras, this shoot was all Canon all the time!.
